Ruislip Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is issued by Ruislip Man and Van for the financial year ending 31 December. It sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to act ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implement effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Ruislip Man and Van provides local and regional moving, transport and associated services. Our operations involve direct employment of staff and the use of suppliers and subcontractors, including vehicle hire providers, fuel suppliers, equipment providers, storage facilities and occasional labour agencies. We understand that some of these areas can present risks of modern slavery and human trafficking if not managed properly.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude and human trafficking. This policy applies to our employees, workers, contractors, agency staff and all organisations that form part of our supply chain. Any engagement or suspected engagement in modern slavery practices is completely unacceptable and is grounds for termination of employment or business relationships.
We are committed to conducting our business in a way that respects human rights, promotes fair working conditions and complies with all relevant legislation. All managers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring that this commitment is understood and upheld in their teams.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
To reduce the risk of modern slavery in our supply chain, we carry out proportionate due diligence on new and existing suppliers, particularly those providing labour or operating in higher-risk sectors. Our due diligence measures include assessing the nature of the services provided, the location of operations and any history of ethical or labour concerns.
We reserve the right to conduct supplier audits, which may be desk-based reviews or on-site assessments, depending on the level of risk identified. These audits focus on working conditions, employment practices, use of subcontractors and compliance with relevant labour and human rights standards. Where significant concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe or, if necessary, to terminate the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We aim to raise awareness among our employees about the risks and indicators of modern slavery and human trafficking. Relevant staff, including those involved in recruitment and supplier management, receive guidance on recognising potential warning signs and understanding our internal reporting processes. We encourage an open culture in which people feel able to report concerns without fear of retaliation.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Ruislip Man and Van encourages anyone who has concerns about possible modern slavery within our operations or supply chain to report them as soon as possible. Concerns can be raised confidentially through our internal reporting channels, including line managers or senior management. Reports may relate to suspicious employment practices, signs of coercion or exploitation, or any behaviour that appears inconsistent with our zero-tolerance approach.
All reports will be treated seriously and handled sensitively. We will investigate concerns promptly and, where appropriate, take action which may include engaging with suppliers, notifying relevant authorities or ending contractual relationships. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith.
Risk Assessment and Continuous Improvement
We periodically assess the risk of modern slavery within our operations and supply chains, taking into account the types of services provided, geographic risk factors and reliance on temporary or subcontracted labour. The outcomes of these assessments inform our priorities for additional due diligence, audits and training.
We are committed to continuous improvement and will adapt our approach as risks, best practice and legal requirements evolve. This may include enhancing our supplier onboarding processes, updating contractual terms or strengthening monitoring and reporting procedures.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with legal requirements and industry standards. As part of the review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, consider feedback from stakeholders and identify further steps to improve our controls.
The statement is approved by the leadership of Ruislip Man and Van and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
